As tensions in West Asia rise due to the deepening conflict between Israel and Iran, India has mobilized support and ramped up efforts to safeguard its citizens residing in the region.
The Indian embassy in Tehran has issued another advisory urging all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to relocate from the Iranian capital, particularly those with access to personal transportation.
In a public announcement, the embassy advised individuals to move to safer areas outside Tehran, citing the potential for further military escalation. This appeal comes as fears mount over a possible full-scale conflict.
“Those who can leave the city using their own vehicles are strongly encouraged to do so immediately,” the advisory stated. The embassy also called upon any Indian nationals not yet in contact with officials to urgently reach out and share their location and contact information.
Coordinated Evacuation And Support Measures
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that a number of Indian citizens have already been assisted in leaving Iran via its border with Armenia. Additionally, special transport arrangements—particularly buses—have been organised to relocate Indian students and professionals out of Tehran in recent days.
“In light of recent developments, Indian students in Tehran have been relocated as a safety precaution,” the MEA noted. “The Embassy is in continuous communication with the Indian community in Iran to provide all possible assistance.”
Emergency Helplines And Control Rooms
To bolster communication and emergency response capabilities, a 24/7 control room has been activated by the MEA in New Delhi. Multiple helpline numbers, including WhatsApp support, have been provided to Indian nationals seeking assistance both in Iran and India.
The Indian embassy in Tehran has also launched its own round-the-clock emergency helpline, with dedicated contact lines for various regions including Bandar Abbas and Zahedan.
